As other reviewers have commented, this straightens a blade. It does not "sharpen" a blade, meaning to grind the edge.
Additionally, I wonder if the old adage made in the description has any basis in fact that " . . . they [dull blades] are also far more likely to be the cause of injury than sharp blades." Seems like nifty marketing to me. I'd love to see an actual study that supports the marketing. I've never been cut by a dull blade, only sharp ones.
